Trabeculectomy with mitomycin C for glaucoma secondary to emulsified silicone oil after pars plana vitrectomy: three-years follow up

چکیده
Background/Aim. Different surgical interventions have been proposed, including trabeculectomy associated with antiproliferative agents because silicone oil (SO) removal cannot necessarily provide intraocular pressure (IOP) control. The aim of the study was to determine efficacy mitomycin C (MMC) for lowering IOP in patients open-angle glaucoma (OAG) secondary emulsified SO after pars plana vitrectomy. Methods. A single-center, prospective conducted, from December 2014 2019, on 56 consecutive an uncontrolled elevation who were subjected MMC that period. primary end-point at three-year follow-up visit. Complete success defined as ranging 7 mmHg 18 without medication. Qualified a s I OP ? 2 1 m mHg one or two topical medications. Results. Fifty-six mean age 5 3.6 [standard deviation (SD)15.5] years had baseline 42.3 (39.3 45.3) mmHg, which reduced 18.6 (17.9 19.3) three surgery (p < 0.0001). Seventeen (30.4%) eyes classified complete success, 21 (37,5%) qualified and (32.1%) failure. In all successfully treated patients, number antiglaucoma medications significantly 2.85 (SD 0.77) 1.63 0.62), p 0.0001. Conclusion. Trabeculectomy may be option OAG vitrectomy, not controlled maximum

PURPOSE To report a retrospective series of seven phakic eyes of seven patients suffering from a malignant glaucoma-like syndrome following pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil (SO) injection. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seven eyes with retinal detachment treated with pars plana vitrectomy with or without scleral buckling with SO tamponade. This was followed by cataract extraction to manage the e...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE To investigate the optimal technique for repairing recurrent rhegmatogenous retinal detachments. PATIENTS AND METHODS A 2-year retrospective review of recurrent rhegmatogenous retinal detachments by 23-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) or combined 23-gauge PPV with encircling scleral buckling was performed. The primary outcome was anatomical success. The secondary out...

AIMS Intractable glaucoma is glaucoma resistant to medical therapy and conventional surgical procedures. In this study, a planned surgical technique is discussed for controlling the increased intraocular pressure in selected cases with intractable glaucoma. METHODS Total pars plana vitrectomy with pars plana tube implantation was performed in 17 eyes of 17 cases with intractable glaucoma. Pat...
